Barbara Emerson has held leadership positions at several publishing companies and is Past President of the Direct Gardening Association. At Horticulture magazine she was responsible for sales and marketing of the magazine to the advertising community and as a result has had contact with a significant number of companies, large and small, in the lawn and garden field . . . learning from them all the time. Currently she is an Account Manager at Edible Boston and having the time of her life!
She is an enthusiastic home gardener who has been gardening since she was a little girl and earned the title of Principal Master Gardener through the program at the Massachusetts Horticultural Society. As a youngster she raised house plants, helped her mother weed their garden, and subjected poor innocent begonias to the effects of different fertilizer applications in the name of school science projects. In middle age, she cared for a fenced vegetable garden as well as tons of veggies in containers, a shade garden, a sunny border and a swath of grass she mowed with a garden tractor. Today she has a scaled down vegetable patch but still keeps her fingers in the dirt.
